Activating community play through media

We created and aired a series of playful programming to raise awareness of learning through play. We worked with the most popular media outlets to reach parents and caregivers, and supported them in the creation of play content.Twakoze kandi dutambutsa mu itangazamakuru ibiganiro bijyanye n’imikino hagamijwe kuzamura imyumvire ku kamaro ko kungukira ubumenyi mu mikino. Ishya & Kiss FM Content creation at Agati Library

We created 4 radio drama episodes, 12 street vox-pops which aired on the lead commercial radio station (102.3 KISS FM), and 4 TV Episodes of “How to Play” which aired on the leading TV Station during their prime shows “Ishya”. This content was also tested on focus groups to get an understanding of what content would be most impactful with PCs.

Impact

The mini drama series which aired on Radio Rwanda and community radio stations reached an estimate of 4,527,600 people.

We onboarded 10 media houses (Radio Rwanda, Community radios (RC Huye, RC Musanze, RC Rubavu, RC Nyagatare, RC Rusizi), Kiss FM, Royal FM, Energy Radio, Rwanda TV)

98% of individuals involved in the focus groups said that they are very likely or likely to share LtP messages in the mini-radio drama series amongst their networks.

98% of people reached in the focus groups strongly agree or agree that it’s important to play with children.
